Tuesday's Practice

On my way home today, I rode by practice and stumbled upon some fence hanging fathers. Can you believe it?

Fathers, I believe are in a unique position to fully appreciate just how much a successful season will mean to their sons and their fellow teammates in the years to come. They recognize that the memories made by their sons at this time will be some of the most recalled memories that they, their teammates and new acquaintances will likely share in the future. All fathers desire for their sons to seize this moment, to be all they can be, and to experience and make wonderful, lasting memories. Fathers recognize that the lessons learned on the playing field about what it takes to be successful will serve their sons in good stead the remainder of their lives.

How to convey all this to our sons and how to get our sons to seize and fully appreciate this opportunity is of course a problem we fathers similarly share and one that no doubt our fathers struggled with, with us as well. If we could just get them to realize what we know now...that these are their potential glory days and just how much...America loves a winner...all would be well with the world.
